ps. the ball of yarn is not his toy.. it fell out of my cupboard. I wouldn’t let him actually play with yarn because he’s so crazy when he plays I imagine he could get tangled in it so tight it might actually hurt him :(

PPS. This is an insanely detailed resource on Japanese Buddhism / folklore. Still not much on tsukumogami (my favorite youkai) except that there is an account of an animated tea caddy presented to Oda Nobunaga by the one and only Matsunaga Hisahide. That uncle sure gets around /tear

PPPS. whoops in my last post I only used zhuzhu’s Chinese Ink brushes for the linework (here too); I usually paint colours with the Charcoal Flat brush (in the Calligraphic Brushes default brushset in Photoshop), it has a nice chalky texture!

Sorry I haven’t been posting much. I am trying to work hard on something that I hope will work out now, also on Hero, also on a comic that suddenly became pretty important/interesting to me.. Also a comic with Fuuma Kotarou in a dress, but I can count on one hand the number of people interested in that haha ;;

Fuwa Kotarou, the fluffiest kirin in all the kingdoms. Originally the kirin of Hojo Ujimasa but somehow on loan to Matsunaga Hisahide whose own kirin Hiragumo-chan turned out to be not a kirin at all but a teakettle

Google and watch Skerry’s TED talk if you have the time. His message is something you are probably already aware of (we’re fishing the hell out of our seas, coastal development is destroying spawning areas, yet protected marine ecosystems are able to recover spectacularly well within a human lifetime), but even if those facts are old to you, his presentation and photography are very powerful.

In reality I like mongrels the most but have recently developed an affectionate ‘aww’ reaction to Dobermanns.. Y had two when he was a kid, adopted as grown dogs from other people; the first dog, Jasper, apparently died of a broken heart because he missed his original family so much. (The kids moved away first and Y’s dad told me Jasper would sit on the porch with the mum and sigh while she petted his head. What a sweetheart)

Been struggling to find a drawing style suitable for a Three Kingdoms short story (ancient Chinese cavalry, bearded warlords, death and destruction, etc). This is obviously not it. Otherwise been moping around, throwing colours at Hero pages, scripting a comic (about dogs), playing FF3 (cute though the MP system is so strange), and generally trying to figure out the meaning of liff. Also if any of the results from all this experimenting are worth salvaging for portfolio purposes
