Drops In The Ocean v2.0 (click link to read the whole comic)
Originally published in (mostly) black and white for CF2010, this is the redrawn/coloured version I did earlier this year to match all the other Boris & Lalage comics which are in colour. I won’t be printing this as a mini - might want to collect all these short stories into a bigger book some day - but I still have some of the original copies (I like how the whale sharks look in black and white more actually)
I’ll put up a store after CF, I’m struggling to finish a new comic rn T_T drawing is ok but writing is so hard, I want to be a cheesecake
"Also we want waffles. Do you have waffles"
Was going to try doing this on paper but my scanner isn’t working so I’m doing this digitally, to my own surprise it’s not killing my hand (yet)
My brother just burst out of the bathroom yelling this
(I was talking to cat and got slightly emotional but then I looked at him and he clearly had no idea where I was coming from. In a funny way altruism is a weird kind of selfishness; it’s true that your happiness comes from others’ perceived happiness, but you’re still doing it because it makes you happy)
I am a rabbit who walks alone…
Yotsuba parody obviously. Sorry it’s so messy. Mr Koiwai is the best dad, Jotaro has some catching up to do
PS. pls read Yotsuba it will make you feel so much better about everything
With thanks to aerie for “GRANT APPLICATIONS” (‘Why would Jotaro even apply for grants. “Give me money or ORAORAORA”’)
DISCLAIMER i am not a marine biologist..
Y’s reaction to “I love you” is sometimes a thoughtful, critical “Why?”
To which my reaction is WHAT IS THIS, A CASE STUDY
Someone asked for a process / tutorial post.. The truth is I am always looking for ways to work faster so the process and the style always changes. I went a little bit crazy over the past month because I had the time so I played around a lot.. This one is not fast at all so I am regretting a bit.. But it works for this project.
1. finished (clean up painting on topmost layer, mostly with a small opaque brush)
2. sketch layer - drawn first in a single colour, when done tick opacity lock and slop in colours
3. painting - two new layers - inks and messy colours - I switch between the two, it’s sometimes more fun to ink after blocking out the shapes.
You will always end up working towards your own process that suits you the best, but I think it’s always cool to see how someone else works, hope this was fun. And I nearly forgot to say thanks to GD and TOP for the hair colour inspirations haha
