As great as Ravages is… I will concede that Ma Chou and Ma Dai are at their cutest in Dynasty Warriors

I really like RoTK, and while I agree that it does make Shu very favorable and paint Cao Cao as a villain, it leaves room for other interpretation too - just subtle. I rant a bit, but it comes from all the class analyzing of the book. >_<

I think readers can always interpret it differently, it’s just been quite a while since I read the novel and I’ve read up a little on actual events since, so that’s the overriding impression I have. I understand why the Ming government wouldn’t have supported a book that was sympathetic towards a Han traitor! But to be fair, I don’t know how much of this is also influenced by the movies and TV adaptations I watched before/after reading..

Although I have to kind of say that SINCE Ravages of Time is so revisionist that it actually enhances it to have read the novel (the Moss Roberts translation is good, but there is also a free one on the internet!) or to have played Dynasty Warriors (which is actually a fairly conventional interpretation in many respects, at least as the chara personalities go, although wtf with Zhang He).
But everyone should STILL read Ravages of Time. XD

I have had zero success convincing people to read RoT so this is an extremely good point! Also yea it is fun getting shocked by how amazingly RoT twists and turns things you always thought were quite straightforward in the novel.
My brother randomly started playing DW7 and ended up unlocking everything and finishing the entire game for me so I think that is probably the most.. fun way.. to get into 3K. But I am echoing the ‘wtf with Zhang He’

"We Are Strategists" celebrate the success of their new hit single "I Don’t Fight*"
The official DW7XL site updated today with “a new promotional movie” (Koeiese for “2 minutes of fantrolling in HD”). There is a nice scene of Wang Yi fighting the two Mas, and Cao Cao using his cloak to summon Guo Jia, who then proceeds to look like David Bowie. Apparently always a useful skill
* Don’t believe it

Kingdom of Jin story mode: the summary. HORRIBLE BUT MOSTLY TRUE
Not completely OT, I just saw the Shu school costumes, and screamed a lot at Ma Dai. I didn’t even recognize Ma Chao I just guessed that was him after seeing his cousin… What is the deal Ma clan. Why do you always have to be different in the most terrifying way

Maxed out Lu Meng and Ma Dai over the weekend. Best arena match for farming stats is def the flowers of chaos stage so both of them “reached the pinnacle of beauty” many, many times.. An achievement worthy of the finest shiraz and Gouda. (Wenhe stop stuffing your face; you are next)
Also I just saw this question in my inbox, sorry for the late reply but I will definitely make a new comic for this year’s CF :) Which reminds me I really need to chase the printer for that second batch of Drops books I’d promised! sorry to keep everyone who has emailed me about it waiting ;;

"Guo Fengxiao. The only Wei officer who could possibly turn up for work in thigh-highs*"

"Benevolence? Isn’t that a country in Europe with a lot of dams?"
The kingdom of Shu will never know what hit them. Except that it was wearing Zhen Ji’s boots with the stilettos removed

Okay having made fun of Jia Xu I feel obliged to improve his reputation a bit… Jia Xu was an advisor who served an interesting array of warlords in the late Han / Three Kingdoms dynasty and talked his way out of sudden death situations a lot before masterfully surrendering to and serving Cao Cao. He died of natural causes at the age of 77, impressively, not through battle or of disease or a broken heart or being insulted to death by Zhuge Liang*. He is memorable to me for being right all the time, and for two generations of Caos appointing him for his advice and then not heeding it. /fabulous_shrug.gif
As for the camel, like that last horse it is also styled after a pottery figure from the 5th century, although the man sitting on it is quite definitely from Koei Tecmo circa 2011.
*B just reminded me I really liked Zhugers when I first read the novel precisely because of this. Maybe I am a better person now

The epic paintchat. “My waka vs your waka”
Though Amaterasu would win in any inkfight, paws down

Last week Koei did up a DW-style design of Guo Jia / Fengxiao in response to a Famitsu poll where readers voted him their #1 most wanted addition to the series. A rose among ossans. (Zhang He is technically a butterfly and every time I look at Cao Pi I see a frog)
As for what his personality should be like I hope Koei refer to this comic
