When the kids had killed the man, we had to break up the band
FINISHED READING STEEL BALL RUN
now my life is so empty
ETA TUMBLR… ONE DAY… PLEASE…. LET ME REPLY TO REPLIES…….
The point is HEY KALI IT HAS BEEN A WHILE! and I promise I will read the other parts. The problem is I went to Kino to look for the Viz translation of Stardust Crusaders and couldn’t find them and ended up buying the SBR tankobons instead so I could… look at them a lot.. it will take a while to move on from the emotional beating that ending gave me!!
JUSTICE
BENEVOLENCE
AND OTHER THINGS THAT END IN ‘EVOLENCE
not sure where to go from here :( i should stop painting everything on the same layer. I use multiply / overlay layers for shadows and lighting but forgot to separate background/foreground flats. and sayaka what are you doing
A revelation I had the other day - to block light/shadow into the thumbs because it helps so much with composition and getting the reader’s eye to follow the action within each panel and to flow to the next panel. (Messy sketches, bitchy dialogue and tea ceremonies between strategists from warring eras 1400 years and many miles apart are optional)
For wiser words on sequential art here are some great articles wratty linked to on Alex Toth - an interview, a very detailed and precise critique, an article comparing his work before and after he ‘literally tore up his work and re-drew it based on the critique / feedback received’. Jesse Hamm (author of previous article) also wrote a great summary of why Toth drew better comics than any of us do. I particularly like what (Toth) wrote at the end of his critique:
“I hate giving critiques (…) They anger me! And those I critique! Like you! If you’re angry - don’t waste it on me! Be angry with you! You are in your own hands, like clay waiting to be formed - you must always be your own best teacher! (…) Forget all the fandom bullshit and kudos and hype and (…) adulation - and be true to yourself and your long road ahead to the top, or to wherever you want to go - and don’t let ego stop you from learning to do better, best!”
Ravages of Time versus Dynasty Warriors 7*??
Except for Guo Jia. There can only be one Guo Jia
* Well now it is obvious which version’s character designs I have memorized
(Finished Wei’s story mode and started on Jin’s. Everyone is adorable. especially Zhuge Dan who looks exactly like the world’s most paranoid French Bulldog)
This is a good show
(The only thing I have issues with is Kyoko’s outfit)
Happy holidays!
Sorry that this is not a festive drawing. I started looking through scans of the new Dynasty Warriors 7 characters and realized 1) Zhong Hui looks like Reinhardt von Lohengramm lmao 2) Ma Dai is so cute. Koei this is a pretty low way to get hold of my money
Was also trying to rush this but I don’t think it will be finished in time. It is a very emo story anyway, now I have some time to rethink it :’D
IT’S OKAY. I’LL LIVE TO BASARA ANOTHER DAY
Thanks seventypercentethanol for the rec blog ;__________; and thank you so much more for the kindest of words. Haha I think you were pretty stressed when we met so a friendly and somewhat harmless face was probably a welcome sight anyway! In reality I am just a cat of very little brain (and a lot of stomach)
Now I am a little ashamed to be posting even more ludicrous Basara wips.. I’m actually also working on a comic (a very emo one) for a friend’s Basara fanbook, but suddenly I really really want to draw something.. something tak halal about Chiyo-chan and her useless tsundere boyfriend. And Chika-chan, and her tsundere boyfriend. Yea you may have noticed the most recurrent theme in this blog is making historical figures turn in their graves
Ahem. Good evening and happy writing / drawing to everyone doing their respective Novemberish creative challenges! I’ll be crawling back to work now..
IDK
one day i’ll just write an essay about how much i love mitsunari. the word ‘moe’ will occur a lot
So lazy to finish this lol. Would rather go play and max them out, except I am getting pretty fed up with this crazy idea BASARA 3 introduced to raise stats (you have to find a ‘wanted man’ in every stage, let us just say he is hard to find, difficult to access and there are 38 stages)
I chose Ieyasu over Mitsunari in Oichi’s red route because I suspected she needs a happy friend instead of a scary ass friend ;_; although like some other guys in Basara he has that curious habit of offering to protect a beautiful girl who just kicked his ass. If I have time today I’ll go do her red route again just to see any cutscenes she has with the Western Army. I bet they will consist of Oichi thinking “THESE GUYS ARE SCARIER THAN MY REPRESSED MEMORIES”
Screwed up her Honnouji route though by mindlessly chasing Hideaki instead of searching around the first clearing for Tenkai’s path. She is pretty OP even on Hard mode so when I do it again I might.. have to fight.. Nobunaga… on extreme mode. こえええええええええ
Salt beads on your skin, skies yawning wide
Hear waves weaving wings, ghost ships and tides
I’ll dive for your treasure and keep it safe with me
Love, our pleasure; last secret of the sea
Cousteau, “Last Secret Of The Sea”

Wip. Very inspired by how much beauty and emotion Cousteau can fit into four sentences (these are the only words in the song!), some of my favorite musicians of all time
